NHBC Youth Education – Fall Migration Journeys at the Mitchell Library

More than half of Connecticut birds fly south for the winter. Many migrate thousands of miles to Central and South America! Come and learn about how birds navigate on their long journeys.

We’ll read a book — Flute’s Journey: The Life of a Wood Thrush written and illustrated by Lynne Cherry — and play a migration game that shows some of the hazards/challenges birds face along the way. Weather permitting, participants will have a chance to practice looking for birds with the binoculars outdoors.
