Founded in 1984, Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) is an all-volunteer organization with the mission of promoting interest in Connecticut birds and collecting, preparing, and disseminating the best available scientific information on the status of Connecticut birds and their habitats. COA is responsible for maintaining state records and coordinates major activities like the Christmas counts. They also have educational opportunities, walks and conferences. COA also maintains a very valuable combined calendar of birding activities by various groups in Connecticut and detailed birding maps of Hammonasset and East Rock parks.
