New Haven Bird Club board member Gail Martino has announced that she has launched a children’s book that might be of interest to club members: Feathered & Famous: Meet America’s All-Star Birds, a celebration of the birds that symbolize the United States. The offering includes options for a print book, an eBook, and a free downloadable Educator Activity Pack.
It’s the most up-to-date book on the topic and the first to cover not only state and national birds but also other official species such as the state raptors, ducks, and game birds.
Designed for young explorers 6-12 (and the adults who guide them), it blends nature, history, and discovery, in time for America’s 250th anniversary next year.
For educators, the downloadable Educator’s Pack includes 20+ ready-to-use lessons and activities that extend the book’s content into STEM, language arts, and social studies for the classroom or home learning.
