SUMMARY:NHBC Youth Education - Lights Out CT: Migration - “Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene” Project
DESCRIPTION:All parents and children are invited to join the New Haven Bird Club (NHBC) for a variety of hands-on lessons and activities all about birds and birdwatching\, to spread the joy and beauty of observing birds and nature up close! \nFor this second session\, NHBC members will introduce Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene\, a collective community art project that engages the public about bird collisions with glass. Glass collisions are a leading cause of bird mortality\, and this project will highlight solutions you and others can take to prevent them. \nUsing recycled fabric scraps and glue\, you will recreate one of the 10\,836 birds that were killed by colliding with glass in Chicago in 2023. They will then become part of an art installation that can be used to raise awareness for this issue. Come be a part of this important project! \nRegistration is requested – register here. \nEmail questions to education@newhavenbirdclub.org.
