Field Trip – Fresh Meadows Preserve, Cheshire – Corrie Folsom-O’Keefe (REGISTRATION REQUIRED)
October 20 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am
NOTE: This date is a change from the yearbook!
Cheshire Land Trust’s Fresh Meadows Preserve includes a variety of habitats that appeal to a wide variety of bird species looking for a place to rest and refuel on their southbound migration. With conifer groves, deciduous woodlands, and meadows, all located along the Mill River, it’s worth a visit. Expect a 1-2 mile walk on mostly level ground. Muck boots or other waterproof boots and footwear are strongly advised, and especially if there has been recent rain.
We will have two groups of 10 people each. Registration is required.
Group 1: 8–9:30 a.m.
Group 2: 9:30–11:00 a.m.
Also note: the 9:30 am walk will be videotaped by students from Connecticut College. If you prefer not to appear in the videotape, please sign up for the 8:00 a.m. walk.
Meet at the information kiosk on Cook Hill Road. Park there or across the street on Corliss Lane.
Leaders: Corrie Folsom-O’Keefe, cfolsom-okeefe@audubon.org, 203-233-0535, and Craig Repasz, crepasz@hotmail.com, 203-745-6683.

Participants will be selected through a lottery system where everyone will have an equal chance to be drawn. The draw, which will occur 5 days before the bird walk, will randomize and then rank the list of participants.
All registrants will be notified shortly after the draw by NHBC board member Craig Repasz if they are on the participation list or on standby. If you are on the list and find that you cannot make the event, please let us know right away so we can give your slot to a person on the standby list.
Contact Craig Repasz at crepasz@hotmail.com with all questions relating to walk sign-up and participation.
