Learning bird songs and calls increases one’s perception of what birds are in the area. Want to see a Scarlet Tanager? It helps to know their “chick burr” call. Also, by knowing the songs of common birds, you will notice when a not-so-common bird is in the vicinity. Join Corrie Folsom-O’Keefe for three 45-minute webinars (on April 6th, 13th, and 20th, each starting at 7 p.m.). During each webinar, participants will learn the songs of 10 bird species and the habitats they prefer. We will start with some resident birds, then focus on migrants that will be arriving in Connecticut over the course of the webinars. Limit 25 people for the webinar. There will be two walks at Bent of the River on April 24rd, each for 10 webinar participants. Watch for the NHBC email announcement to sign up for the webinar series and to be eligible for the walk. The walk meets at Bent of the River Wildlife Sanctuary, 185 East Flat Hill Road, Southbury, CT. Take Exit 14 off of Route 84. Go north on Route 172, then turn left onto East Flat Hill Road (church on corner). Continue to the sanctuary entrance on the left.

Leader: Corrie Folsom-O’Keefe, 203-233-0535 or cfolsom-okeefe@audubon.org
